2020: A Year of Contrast

In December of 2019, I set my intention for 2020 to be the “Year of Clarity.”
I had no idea what was in store.
This past year, clarity has certainly become an understatement—along with any other words associated with transition, change, or transformation.
Sure, 2020 has been filled with plenty of chaos, confusion, and calamity. But this has also brought us connection, cooperation, and the clarity we seek.
And one thing we can all agree upon is that nobody was immune to this pandemic. Everyone has been touched by this event somehow.
COVID has become the great equalizer—the opportunity to connect with each other in a way like none other before. For the first time, the words “me, too” can be understood without any elaboration.
There’s been so much we’ve learned and unlearned. And we still have yet to unwind and examine what we’ve been creating these many months in transition. It will come in steps.
So don’t lose hope. The dark times of winter will soon be behind us and the light of Spring will return.
In the meantime, learn to embrace the changes as personal evolution and the answers to many of our longstanding problems. For within every problem lies a solution.
We can reflect back on 2020 with appreciation and gratitude for what’s it taught us about change. And recognize that this year will continue to make us stronger and wiser—a reason to celebrate this transition into a new year with hope and optimism.
